Various Speculations and Anxiety Regarding Penis Size

For centuries, the prevailing notion that "the larger the penis, the stronger the sexual ability and the more obvious the pleasure it brings to women" has greatly influenced people's sexual attitudes. Numerous speculations and anxieties arise surrounding penis size for both men and women.

Young men often come to the clinic seeking advice, worried that their penises are too small. Many young men express their shame and distress, saying their penises are shorter than others. They are afraid to swim or shower, feeling inferior and worrying that it will affect their future marriage and fertility.

Many young men believe their penises are small, but from a medical perspective, they are not; they are simply misled by their eyes. When you look at someone else's penis, it appears longer from eye level, while you look at your own penis from above, only seeing the proximal part of the base, making it appear shorter. In reality, whether a penis is truly small can only be determined through measurement. During measurement, support the penis in its flaccid state with your hand, press one end of a rigid ruler firmly against the pubic symphysis, compressing the subcutaneous fat layer as much as possible. The standard distance for penile length is the glans penis at the external urethral orifice at the other end. Read the number at this point; this is the penile length.

The length and circumference of a normal male penis vary greatly due to differences in race, ethnicity, and family history. A renowned Chinese scholar investigated the length and circumference of the penis in a normal state in 1000 healthy adult Chinese men. The results showed that the size of the penis in its non-erect state, from the base to the glans, ranged from 4.5 to 8.6 cm, with an average of 6.55 cm. The longest was 10.6 cm, and the shortest was 3.7 cm. The average penile circumference (at the midpoint or coronal sulcus) was 8.22 to 8.5 cm. Height was also measured, and no definite proportional relationship was found between height and penile length. People often believe that tall men always have long penises, and short men always have short penises. This is not necessarily true; some tall men actually have smaller penises, and some short men have larger penises.

Although there is a significant difference in penis length in a flaccid state, both smaller and larger penises function the same when erect. Clinical studies show that in a normal flaccid state, the average length of a smaller and larger penis when fully erect is approximately 11.5 cm, generally varying between 7 and 16 cm, with no significant difference. Furthermore, even for the same person, penis size can vary depending on mental state (such as tension or fear), environment (such as penile exposure to cold or heat), and season (longer penises in summer and shorter penises in winter). However, once erect, the difference in length is not significant. For example, a penis that is about 10 cm long in a flaccid state only increases to 13 cm when erect, a relatively small proportion, while a penis that is about 6 cm long in a flaccid state increases significantly, reaching 14 cm when erect. Thus, the original difference is compensated for. If the penis is short, only about 3 centimeters when flaccid, and accompanied by sparse pubic hair and no beard, then it should be considered pathological. It's important to emphasize that any penis within the normal range can achieve normal sexual function when erect and does not affect future sexual intercourse. In fact, most comparisons are made discreetly in the flaccid state; few people see another person's erect penis. Therefore, comparisons in the flaccid state are largely meaningless.

The statement "The larger the penis, the stronger the female pleasure" is problematic. The vagina is about 7-8 centimeters long, but it is a highly elastic fleshy canal. Normally, the anterior and posterior walls of the vagina are tightly pressed together. During sexual intercourse, significant congestion occurs, and the muscles of the outer third of the vagina contract, causing narrowing and creating a tight grip on the penis. Furthermore, the male's erogenous zone is mainly at the coronal sulcus, while the female's is in the outer third of the vagina. Therefore, even if the penis appears short, it will not affect stimulation of the clitoris and the outer third of the vagina after erection, allowing the woman to achieve sexual pleasure. Harmonious sexual relations depend primarily on the emotional exchange and close cooperation between partners, as well as sexual function (penile firmness and duration), not on penis size. As long as a man's development is normal and his length is not below the lower limit of the normal range, he can satisfy his partner's sexual needs. Some men may have a penis smaller than 5 cm in a flaccid state, which may seem short, but it can grow to over 10 cm when erect. This should not be considered micropenis. Only a penis that does not exceed 9 cm in length when erect can be called micropenis. Furthermore, the shape of the penis is merely an external appearance, while sexual pleasure is an internal sensation.

Generally speaking, penis size itself does not affect a woman's sexual satisfaction, so men need not worry about it. Women shouldn't judge a man's "heroism" based on his height or penis size. A tall man doesn't necessarily have a long penis, and a short man doesn't necessarily have a short penis. From a woman's perspective, sexual pleasure isn't determined by whether the penis length matches the vaginal depth. The accumulation of sexual stimulation during intercourse primarily relies on friction received by the clitoris, the inner labia minora, and the vaginal opening. Even with a shorter penis, these stimuli will still provide the woman, thus not affecting her sexual pleasure. Whether a woman experiences orgasm, and the intensity of her orgasm, is related to many factors, such as her sexual awareness, sexual beliefs, living environment, and circumstances. The most decisive factors are the emotional bond with her partner and sexual harmony techniques—these are acquired and shouldn't be a source of worry. Don't believe misconceptions, as this could cause psychological harm and affect future marital and family happiness.

So, is there a way to increase penis size? Scientific research confirms that any method of altering the appearance and size of the genitals is not easily effective. Regardless of whether the medication contains sex hormones, it's difficult to achieve significant results. Massage and the application of negative pressure therapy devices only change the state of penile congestion, making it appear larger temporarily. The long-term effects are sometimes effective, while others require further observation and confirmation.

Men generally prefer a larger penis, but women have different perspectives. Some married women also desire a larger penis from their husbands. However, some newlyweds worry about whether their vagina can accommodate a large penis.

One young woman, lacking sexual knowledge, was astonished by her husband's large penis during her first sexual intercourse, worrying that such a large penis would cause pain. This caused her great anxiety, exacerbating the pain during intercourse, and even leading her to refuse intercourse. This worry is completely unfounded. They don't understand that the vagina is a highly elastic tubular organ; since a fetus can be delivered vaginally, it goes without saying that even a large penis can be accommodated by the vagina. Therefore, the man should share relevant knowledge with the woman during their first sexual encounter to alleviate her anxiety. At the same time, he should be gentle, attentive, and affectionate before intercourse, allowing her to feel the warmth of her husband's love and gradually stimulating her sexual arousal center. The woman should also understand that even if there is slight pain during the first intercourse, it is perfectly bearable for her and she can gradually adapt. The history of human evolution over millions of years is also a history of male-female sexual intercourse. Countless unions of men and women have led to the creation of the next generation, the continuation of the species, the stability of families, and the advancement of civilization. Women's contributions to humanity are undeniable. For millions of women, the pain of the first night is simply one of the "pleasures" of newlywed bliss.

Many misconceptions about penis size are a manifestation of sexual ignorance. By learning about the anatomy and function of the penis and vagina, men need not worry about a "small" penis, and women need not worry about a "large" penis. Through millions of years of evolution, nature has long since made the male and female penises and vaginas a perfect match.
